I do multiple coats of rod finish to ensure a good, strong, and long lasting finish. First coat soaks through thread and seals to the rod blank, guide, and thread itself. Second coat seals the thread completely on the ends and on the top of thread. Last coat makes sure it all is covered and sealed with no air bubbles and a perfect coat overall.
