How I got started
One night I went to an auction and saw a fly rod up for a bid. So I decided to throw a $40 winning bid that night. The kit came with a rod and several flies. I decided the next day I'd give it a try. A few days of practice on the water and god blessed me with my first fish. I became as hooked as the fish was. I got reeled into the sport that has now become my hobby, passion, and lifestyle . I enjoy Fly fishing more than anyone will ever know. I began making my own flies and building my own rods. One thing ran to the next as I started getting custom orders from family and friends. I then started posting the rods online and within a year I got a list of orders and the idea to build rods full time. I started with fly rods and now I build ice rods through shark rods.
What the sport does for me
Fly fishing is a unique experience and takes my mind on a short vacation. I only focus on what's in front of me and around me. Not a worry in the world for this time being. The way matching a hatch and presenting it before a fish takes to it, is a very rewarding experience! I often dance and sing all day when I’m out on the water. This hobby takes over and is my ultimate happy place! Fishing the flies and rods I've created is the best research and development as I stride to get back to the bench for improvements and new adjustments!
